I am a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow in Biology (Area 3: Plant Genomes). I am sponsored by Dr. Robert VanBuren at Michigan State University in the Plant Biology Department and by the Plant Resilience Institute. Under this fellowship, I am applying high-throughput single-nuclei sequencing methods to study cell type-specific gene regulatory networks of photosynthetic pathways in the non-model genus Portulaca.
My research focuses on major evolutionary shifts in plant photosynthetic metabolism and how these shifts can serve as general models for the evolution of complex traits. To understand the evolution of photosynthesis and stress responses, my research spans multiple scales: from single-cell sequencing of individual species to developing bioinformatic tools for phenotyping and comparison across all plants.
